What an honor to receive The Next Step Public Charter School’s Partnership Award at their 2024 Community & Partner Appreciation Gala last night! We are so proud to partner with TNS and grateful for the work they do to support students who face extraordinary challenges. We have provided over 55,000 diapers to parenting students over the years with the aim to remove some of the barriers they face in pursuing their academic & personal goals. GDCDB’s Executive Director Liz Schurgin, CAE accepted the award and Racine Tucker-Hamilton of our Board of Directors also attended. In honor of Father’s Day, we are excited to announce our #DiaperDudes campaign which celebrates the critical role that men play in infant health and wellbeing. In support of this campaign, we are receiving over 250,000 Huggies® Healthcare™ diapers from National Diaper Bank Network. We are so grateful to the Washington Wizards players and dancers and Monumental Sports & Entertainment staff and volunteers who helped us launch #DiaperDudes in our effort to #EndDiaperNeed in the DMV. Yesterday students from the Kaleidoscope Club at Washington Episcopal School came to visit the warehouse and drop off their $1,000 donation from funds raised through their treat sale of handmade items! Our Diaper Program Manager Stephanie Paraïso joined the students at their school recently to talk about diaper need and how they can help. We are thrilled to announce Liz Schurgin, CAE as our new Executive Director! Liz brings 14 years of nonprofit experience in leadership roles and as a consultant, and previously served for nine years as the Executive Director of DC Youth Orchestra Program.   During her nine years at DCYOP Liz grew the student population, increased fundraising, bolstered partnerships, and garnered media and federal recognition.
