Two weeks ago, DC Affordable Law Firm was honored to receive a $100,000 award from our friends at Wells Fargo Foundation to promote and preserve intergenerational wealth through estate planning as part of National Homeownership Month! We are thrilled to partner with Wells Fargo AND for the opportunity to team with established housing counselor programs, empower families with estate planning education at critical moments on their journeys to homeownership, and thereafter assist new homeowners in safeguarding their health, wealth, and newly-acquired assets by executing proactive estate plans proximate to the time of closing. Proactive estate planning is essential to combatting heirs’ property issues and a host of other ills, and we are honored to be able to help homeowners advance their wishes and take advantage of an opportunity to safeguard their futures and establish legacies to pass on to their loved ones. Many thanks to our former client, Markita Bryant, for appearing alongside her former DCALF attorney, Samuel Wilkins, to openly share her inspirational homeownership and estate planning story, and our utmost gratitude to Victor Burrola and the entire Wells Fargo team for this important opportunity to advance health, wealth, and home preservation for DC residents! Building CIR has been a long, deliberate process. Thank you to the DC Bar Foundation, A2J Tech, and all who worked alongside DC Affordable Law Firm as part of the CIR working group, dedicating hours upon hours to imagine this system and how it will operate to serve #dc residents and streamline intake for family law services (and beyond, in due time!)! Excited to move this pilot from concept to a living, breathing network, and delighted for DC Affordable Law Firm to have been in on this project from the ground level!
