Thrilled to celebrate the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission's recognition of One Wall Street's historic Red Room with an Interior Landmark designation! Crafted in 1931 as the private banking hall for Irving Trust Company, this architectural gem was the brainchild of architect Ralph Walker and muralist Hildreth Meier. The room features a stunning display of 13,000 square feet of miniature glass mosaic tiles in a vibrant red and gold gradient that covers the walls and ceilings. Macklowe Properties has meticulously restored the Red Room to its original splendor, and it even served as the impressive sales office for the One Wall Street condos. In my opinion, it stands as one of the most magnificent sales galleries ever created—kudos to DBOX and the marketing team for their incredible work. The multi-billion dollar project presents a high-profile, bold vision of 10 acres of open space set within a multi-purpose luxury destination — adjacent to, and integrating, the iconic Beverly Hilton and Waldorf Astoria hotels. The project faced a critical need to communicate Foster + Partners’ masterplan and 4.5 acres of publicly accessible botanical gardens at a “human scale”.
