Our BARK Dorm pups recently passed the Canine Good Citizens (CGC) test! 🐶🏆 Canine Good Citizen is a 10-skill test through the American Kennel Club, which teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their handlers. The BARK Dorm is an innovative collaboration between the Texas Juvenile Justice Department and Dallas Pets Alive. Dogs in need of temporary boarding through our Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS) program and Dogs Matter initiatives are matched with a youth handler at Gainesville State School. The boys earn their way to participate in the BARK program, where they get the opportunity to care for a dog in need as if it were their own, until it is time for the dogs to be reunited with their owners. During their time in the program together, the dogs improve their skills and manners with behavioral training classes, while their handlers learn valuable life lessons in trust, patience, and responsibility. BARK prepares both the boys and dogs to approach their next chapter in life with the skills they need to succeed. To prepare for the CGC test, the BARK Dorm pups and their handlers trained together under the guidance of Boss Babe Dog Training, and each passed with flying colors! 🥇 Please join us in celebrating their amazing achievement!
