Having been in cyber-security for more than 2-decades I can't tell you how many times I have heard "we apply the laws of probability to our purchase decisions - we have not had a breach so what is the probability of a breach"? My immediate question back is "do you have a smoke detector in your house? Have you had a fire? What's the probability of a fire? Would you apply the same logic to protecting your family?" Recently, the RansomHub group has been in the news for claiming to have attacked Rite Aid. The drugstore chain says it has restored its systems, but RansomHub will be a group to watch.
