The department also operates international programs, a graduate program, numerous laboratory facilities, an internship center, award-winning student media, a student advertising and public relations agency, a week-long signature university event called COMM Week, and many student clubs, organizations and competitions. The Department offers a B.A. and M.A. in Communications. Undergraduates choose from one of four concentrations: journalism, public relations, advertising, and entertainment & tourism communications. A minor in Communications is available with concentrations in advertising, journalism or public relations. The Departments also offers an M.A. in Communications. Students choose from one of three tracks: mass communications research and theory; professional communications; or communications in tourism and entertainment.

As I approach the end of my final week in grad school at California State University, Fullerton, I'm filled with gratitude for the exceptional faculty and peers who've supported me throughout this journey. Receiving the Department Chair Leadership Award is an honor, showcasing the invaluable experience I've gained as Director of Marketing at Daily Titan, where I've learned more about the fields of advertising and marketing, preparing me for the professional world post-graduation. A special shoutout to Professor Michelle Kurland, who's been the best mentor since my undergraduate years, guiding me through both academic and professional endeavors at Daily Titan. Attending the APARC recognition celebration was a moment of pride, connecting with peers who share similar Asian heritage backgrounds. Tonight, I presented my final project for COMM 597 master's project course, where Professor Doug Swanson, Ed.D APR’s guidance has been helpful in preparing us for real-world challenges. A big thank you to Newton Hoang, whose collaboration on our project targeting consumer insights at 7 Leaves Cafe has been invaluable. As commencement approaches next week, I'm filled with excitement and deep appreciation for everyone who've supported me on this journey of continuous learning. This week, I attended the CSUF Department of Communications 2024 Awards and Scholarships Ceremony. This is my second favorite day of the academic year because we recognize our top students for their academic achievements and announce the scholarship recipients. It’s a special honor to celebrate with my students and their families! I’m always amazed at the things that many of my students have to deal with in their personal lives but the incredible dedication, perseverance, and work ethic drives them to extraordinary levels of performance. And if I didn’t know the back stories, I wouldn’t have a clue that they were dealing with such heavy challenges! Also, congratulations to my colleague, Pete Evanow, who was recognized as our Distinguished Full-Time Faculty Member of the Year! He and I have been co-advisors for CSUF PRactical ADvantage Communications for years and he is a fantastic educator and professional, and this recognition is well-deserved! It was a great evening of celebration! The only thing was that there were some mysterious irritants in the air that may have been causing my eyes to water a few times that evening! 🤣 Congratulations to all of you on your impressive academic achievements and scholarship awards! I look forward to seeing you on my MOST favorite day of the academic year in just a few weeks -Commencement!

Graduate school came with many blessings and one of those was being the recipient of the Denise Harrison Scholarship at the CSUF Department of Communications Awards and Scholarship Ceremony! ✨ The Denise Harrison Integrity Scholarship commemorates Harrison who was a ‘91 journalism master’s graduate that dedicated her expertise to aerospace companies, marketing communications and serving on the Project Jason board, a nonprofit for missing persons. All in the name of integrity within her professional careers. It was a heartwarming night. I can’t thank enough my family, undergraduate professors and graduate professors for pushing me to achieve higher! Go Titans! 🐘🎉
