CSSI would like to welcome two of our IT Summer Interns - Ms. Yimin (Chelsea) Xiao and Mr. Chandler Marshall. They both will have the opportunity to learn from Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) in various aspects of the aviation industry. In this program, they will gain extensive hands-on experience in software applications, security assessment, dashboarding, project management and data analysis. Chelsea is a Graduate student at University of Pennsylvania where she is pursuing her Masters of Engineering in Systems Engineering and is expected to graduate in May 2025. Chelsea graduated from University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts with a Bachelor’s of Science in Data Science and Statistics, minor in Economics. In her free time, she loves to workout, go hiking, play badminton, cook, and swim. Chandler is a student at University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he is pursuing his Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science and expected to graduate in May 2025. In his free time, he loves to workout, run, bike, hike and spend time with family. CSSI recently named the winner the Rookie of the Year award, which is presented annually to one CSSI employee in recognition of outstanding performance, customer service, and initiative within their first 36 months of employment. The 2023 “Rookie of the Year” Award was awarded to David Hawkins, a Lead Computer Programmer who joined CSSI in November of 2022. Under David’s guidance the VIDS development team has successfully engaged new challenging tasking due to his steadfast leadership, keen organizational and communication skills, and expert technical ability. David recognizes that his most important asset is his team. He challenges and inspires by setting goals. In the last 12 months, David has developed a small group of diverse individuals into a highly productive and efficient team. He has quickly earned the government’s confidence in his technical ability. Last week we held our Employee Appreciation Awards Ceremony and it was an amazing event! The CSSI Employee awards has a long history of showcasing the talents, passions, and achievements of our colleagues. Our first award is The “Incredibles” Award, which is presented annually to one CSSI team in recognition of outstanding performance, customer service, and initiative. The 2023 "Incredibles" Award was awarded to the Partnership for Safety Team (PFS)! The PFS Team worked to rebuild & revamp the Partnership of Safety website, for FAA & NATCA users. The team collaborated effectively to revamp the old PFS look, integrating new technologies that improved efficiency. The team introduced a new workflow automation process that reduced manual errors and increased productivity. This innovation was a direct result of the team's brainstorming sessions and willingness to adopt cutting-edge technologies. It significantly streamlined their operations, allowing them to handle a larger volume of work with the same resources.   Congratulations again to all the nominees and award winners!

Juneteenth is a federal holiday celebrated annually on June 19. It celebrates and commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. As we observe the holiday, we are reminded of our rich and varied history and the ongoing journey to build a better society. Although, Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom it should also be a day to bring light to ongoing issues and efforts for freedom, activism, remembrance and increased awareness. CSSI remembers Bob Showalter - A Life Well Lived.

As Memorial Day approaches, let us continue to remember and honor the brave men and women who have given the highest sacrifice for our freedom. Without their heroic commitment and actions, we would not be able to enjoy the many freedoms we have today. CSSI wants to also remember our Founder, Frank G. Castillo, a veteran serving in the Marine Corp and many of our #CSSI colleagues and teammates are comprised of veterans representing all services that have served our country.
