Nationwide, Americans believe our healthcare system is falling short in its broad treatment of mental health conditions. Gallup and West Health recently released a poll that shows 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘀 (𝟳𝟱%) 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 of how U.S. health systems treat #mentalhealth issues. As the Association for Behavioral Healthcare puts it, "All the more reason to 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀," like CSO's Community #BehavioralHealth Centers. #MentalHealthMatters

Hampden County 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 filings, with 24.3 filings per 1,000 renter households, according to MHP (Massachusetts Housing Partnership). As City of #SpringfieldMA Director of Housing Geraldine McCafferty explained today during the Western Massachusetts Network to End Homelessness' Annual Gathering at Holyoke Community College, this eviction crisis comes as the Commonwealth faces a shortage of 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟵,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘀. Data from Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) shows that 𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝟲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨.𝗦. (ages 6–17) 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 each year. At each CSO location, staff come together each month for "𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗘" (an acronym for "𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘆 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀"). At the 𝟭𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 on Friday, the University honored our team with the "𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙔𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙." The award was accepted on CSO's behalf by Dana Duval, LICSW, Director of CSO's Emergency Services Programs in Greenfield.
