DEI marketplace for the creative industries with a focus on unearthing talent from disenfranchised communities
About us
“We believe that someone’s current circumstance shouldn’t dictate their future.” Our goal is to unearth the next generation of creative industry leaders from underserved and disadvantaged communities. Through opportunity, support and a network we want to help break cycles of systemic inequality - because talent is distributed equally, but opportunity isn’t. Creative Futures is a 12 week program where we work with fellows to get career opportunities in the creative industries. Industries that have traditionally been impossible to break into if you weren’t born into the right neighborhoods, have the right family connections or went to the right schools. Throughout the program, we host workshops to educate and inspire our fellows in a range of topics from financial literacy, mindfulness, storytelling, unlocking creativity and leadership development to name a few. Each of our fellows is then assigned a group of mentors, a guaranteed paid “Futureship” and a short film on their story. We call it the “Alumni group for people that don’t have an alumni group”.

!Partnership News! AWAL has partnered with the LA-based networking and mentoring program Creative Futures Collective to launch the AWAL Futures program, with the focus on launching the careers of artists and supporting creatives from underrepresented communities. The artists selected into the AWAL Futures program will receive a committed EP release from AWAL, mentorship from key executives at the company, and an EP release event at Soho Warehouse in July. The program will also leverage other creatives from the Creative Futures Collective-community to assist with marketing assets such as music videos, photos, and other artwork. Creative Futures Collective CEO and Co-founder, Jai Al-Attas says, “Teaming up with AWAL is the perfect next step in the evolution of Creative Futures Collective. When we launched back in 2019, our whole focus was trying to get internships in the creative industries for people from disenfranchised backgrounds, but as we grew from having 10 fellows based in LA to now having over 1,500 alumni globally, we noticed that not everyone is looking for a 9 to 5 job. We also have incredible artists, filmmakers, storytellers, designers, entrepreneurs and more that are looking for their opportunity to launch their careers, and AWAL gives us the perfect partner in which to do that.” AWAL CEO Lonny Olinick adds, “Our core mission is to partner with independent artists to tell stories that shape culture, so joining forces with CFC is a natural partnership. Combining our deep experience with the platform Jai and his team have built allows us to amplify underrepresented voices, championing stories from a diverse array of experiences. I’m excited to equip these exceptional artists with tools for their development and see the future talent to come out of this program.” The artists selected in the inaugural AWAL Futures program are: Jay Wood / Chicago BITTERS / New York NanaBcool / Columbus

We're excited to announce that we're the official community partner for the Bloomberg Screentime conference on October 11th & 12th in Los Angeles. Hosted by Lucas Shaw - Screentime will gather the moguls, celebrities, and entrepreneurs already defining the next phase of pop culture. Over a day and a half in the heart of Hollywood at Nya Studios, we will discuss and debate the future of cinema, the boom in streaming audio and video, the latest sports and gaming experiences, the potential impact of artificial intelligence and much more. Some of the speakers include Issa Rae, Ari Emmanuel, Questlove, Maria Sharapova, Ted Sarandos, Bill Simmons and Kris Jenner to name a few. Our partnership with Bloomberg Live will integrate CFC into the Screentime conference by: * Hiring our Mentees to work as part of their team on the event via our UnTalent platform * A 20 minute Creative Futures Collective panel which will include interviews and live performances from our Alumni * Complimentary tickets for our Alumni to attend the event and be inspired by industry leaders Excited for our Alumni to experience such a cool conference!
