And we're off! Brent and I are excited for the year ahead with The Wave Project. Whilst we can't wait to get in the water with the help of AQUATECH to create a short film to help explain what surf therapy is, we opted to begin things in the classroom. At Christmas Sony Europe donated 2 new cameras to also help them create their own content and yesterday we spent a few hours training staff and volunteers in the basics of photography and videography. With all the theory around light, lenses and technique explained the next session will be outside with hands on shooting. When Brent and I relocated to Cornwall we knew we wanted to give our time to a local charity. Through a surf networking event with the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce we met some of the Newquay team at The Wave Project. This much loved charity, which began in Cornwall in 2010, now run therapeutic surfing courses throughout the UK to improve children’s mental health.  As a blended family with 4 teenagers we know just how crucial this kind of work is. We initially offered to create a video to help The Wave Project explain what surf therapy is and why it is so beneficial. We then shared our plans with Sony who have donated two incredible cameras to enable them to better capture the stories of the young lives they transform. And then AQUATECH also donated an underwater housing which allows us to get in the water to capture where the magic happens. We delivered the cameras this week and the news that we will also train the staff and volunteers in photography and videography. It’s all just rather lovely.  Happy Christmas Everyone.  We can’t wait to enjoy our first in Cornwall. I had a very insightful and thought-provoking day last week at Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Business Partners 2023 Planet C conference at the Eden Project. Talks were all focused on sustainability, innovation and conservation. Understandably, there were quite a lot of data heavy slides to consume. So, as content creators, we applaud Apple for their recent attempt to re-position corporate sustainability (headline) messaging into something more engaging and story-led. It doesn't take an Academy Award winner or massive budgets to think about communicating differently. That's my take out - not whether you found it cringey or funny (or neither).
