CPM and Methaplanet are partnering to sustainably fuel a better world! And it all started with a girl who loves horses. The story begins as Methaplanet Founder Xander Sandell traveled to his daughter’s equestrian show competitions where he noticed an inescapable fact about horses: they produce a lot of waste in the form of manure. Manure releases methane and while methane is a powerful greenhouse gas that has a significant impact on our climate, methane that is captured represents a tremendous opportunity. Specifically, manure can be used to create biogas, a renewable energy source. Xander and Methaplanet set out to solve one of the biggest challenges to biogas processors which is a lack of high-yielding feedstock. Through Methaplanet’s Maxximizer technology and its specialized pelleting process, the company invented a way for biogas processors to increase biomethane production of difficult-to-handle feedstocks by up to 500%. But finding the perfect pellet mill was key. “We tested several different manufacturers,” said Xander. “But with CPM, the machines had more parameters we could adjust to get the result that we needed, and the result was much better.” The moral of the story? Making sure we stay true to our production schedule through material planning, inventory accuracy, and capacity management. 3. What do you like most about CPM? The people and the team I work with in Operations. Everyone plays a crucial role in making sure our products get to our customers as quickly as possible. 4. What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Golfing, woodworking and spending time with my family. 5. What professional success are you most proud of? Moving into our new factory, by a mile! There was an endless amount of planning, scheduling, communication, roadblocks, and breakthroughs until we could finally call our Leversee location our home. All that hard work on the front end has been well worth it to see such a successful and productive factory on the other side.
