Thank you LS Power for the extremely generous donation! A few months ago, CPHM took a tour of their facility in Clifton Park so we would be better prepared in case they had an emergency. We truly appreciate your kindness and generosity.

This week’s Staff Spotlight is Deborah Hanley! From 2002-2009 Deb was a fire weather meteorologist in Florida, and as part of her job became certified as a wildland firefighter and first responder. She loved working with fire and emergency services, and after moving back to New York she joined a volunteer fire department. Later, Deb had an opportunity to become an EMT and jumped at the chance. Deb joined CPHM in 2019 as a Part-Time EMT. She earned her Paramedic Certification in December 2023 and - as of this week - she is a Nationally Certified Paramedic! Woo-hoo! Deb’s two kids are out of the house, so she spends most of her free time with her boyfriend and her dog Dorothy. Some of her hobbies include building LEGO sets, quilting, and reading Steven King. Lately, she has been busy renovating her 1890s home in Troy. Fun Fact: Deb was once a Certified Wildland Fire Prevention Clown!

This week’s Staff Spotlight is Frank Curtis! When Frank was young, the show “Emergency!” first sparked his interest in EMS. Then, he witnessed a serious choking event at a restaurant. No one in the restaurant knew the Heimlich Maneuver and the ambulance arrived at the scene late. Frank was inspired to make a change and took an EMT class in 1991. 32 years later, Frank joined CPHM in April 2023 as a Full-Time Paramedic and AHA Instructor, teaching CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Frank does not shy away from a challenge and loves the opportunity to learn from his peers and take classes to learn more skills. He recently became Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI) credentialed, which is a procedure that helps critically ill or injured patients breathe. Outside of being a Paramedic, Frank is also a Guitar Tech for The Broken Hearted, a Tom Petty cover band, and Desperado, an Eagles cover band. In his free time, Frank often goes to shows and out to dinner with his friends and family. Fun Fact: Frank has about $4,300 worth of tattoos and is planning to get more soon!

Congrats to our 2023 CPHM Therapy Dog of the Year: Roscoe! Roscoe has been putting smiles on everyone's faces for over 2 years. Our crew members love seeing his happy face come through the station on weekends and holidays. They also said he is "simply the best dog" and "the best boy" and that he always "shows up on time and in uniform". Everyone truly loves Roscoe. 🐶
