We are thrilled to welcome 17 talented interns to the Cottage Health team this summer! Spanning 10 specialized departments, these interns will be taking on part-time or full-time roles over the next 10 weeks. During their time with us, they'll gain valuable exposure to real-world healthcare challenges, engage in curriculum relevant to their fields, and participate in cohort activities designed to build meaningful relationships and immerse themselves in various aspects of the Cottage Health experience. We can’t wait to see all that they’ll accomplish!

We are excited to welcome Dr. Ben Hoffman, MD, FAAP, President of the American Academy of Pediatrics, to our next Pediatric Grand Rounds! Dr. Hoffman brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in child health advocacy. Pediatricians are advocates for children by nature and necessity. However, many of us have not had the opportunity to learn and practice the skills essential for effective advocacy. Together, we will examine what it really means to be an effective advocate for children, and discuss how we can align work in community and systems change/policy advocacy with the values of our institutions, our profession and our communities. Learning Objectives: • Summarize physician and healthcare provider advocacy. • Examine ways healthcare providers can advocate to improve the health of their communities. • Review key skills necessary for effective advocacy. • Discuss alignment of an advocacy mission with academic and institutional values and structures. • Examine the promotion and tenure process and how to employ an advocacy portfolio.
