Corboy & Demetrio Partner Michael D. Corboy & Demetrio Legal Assistant Linda Flaherty is celebrating her sixth work anniversary today.  Linda currently serves as Edward G. Willer’s legal assistant, and before that, she served as Ken Lumb’s legal assistant. Linda brings her passion and dedication to our firm day in and day out. Happy Anniversary, Linda!

Corboy & Demetrio welcomes Law Clerk Dimitri Robles to our firm. Dimitri is a 2L at the University of Nebraska College of Law. He earned his B.A. in Philosophy at Texas State University where he graduated magna cum laude. Prior to law school, Dimitri gained experience as a legal assistant at Rowe Law Firm in Dallas where he worked in the firm’s estate planning and elder law practice. Dimitri came to us through the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation’s Internship Alliance Program. 

In this Summer Spotlight, we welcome Law Clerk Alec Brownlee to Corboy & Demetrio. Alec is currently a rising 2L at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Alec earned his B.A. in political science at Middlebury College where he played four years of football.

Why do we celebrate Juneteenth? On January 1, 1863, Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed slaves in the rebelling Confederate states. But it took more than two years before the oppression of enslaved people ended. On June 19, 1865, the Union Army announced in Galveston, Texas, where there were still enslaved people, that that the war had ended and that all who were enslaved were free. Juneteenth is a reminder of that delayed freedom. But it’s also a celebration of the end of slavery in the United States and a day to honor the resilience and strength of Black Americans.
