Yesterday, Camden Mayor Victor G. Carstarphen officially announced the return of the 8th Annual Camden Peace Games that will take place this weekend, Saturday, July 27, and Sunday, July 28, in Von Nieda Park, located in the city's Cramer Hill neighborhood (North 29th Street and Pierce Avenue). In attendance were Camden County Commissioner Al Dyer, Council President Angel Fuentes, Philadelphia 76ers legend World B. Free, Glen M. Jackson, President of P.A.R.K. C.M.D. (Providing Alternate Resources for Kids), and representatives from Camden Community Partnership (C.C.P.). The Camden Peace Games are a free, co-ed basketball tournament open to local youth. They aim to use sports as a way to build community and encourage park stewardship among local youth, promoting peace, community, and unity among neighbors in Camden and beyond. Camden Mayor Victor G. Carstarphen commented, "This weekend will highlight one of my favorite events of the year: the 2024 Camden Peace Games. It's an excellent opportunity to celebrate our young athletes' talents while strengthening our community's bond." The Camden Peace Games exemplify cooperation among community leaders, local organizations, private institutions, and government, all coming together to support Camden's youth and families. Whether participating as a player or simply seeking a fun family outing, everyone is encouraged to join at this year's Camden Peace Games!
