As we prepare for back-to-school season, it's also a good time to think about planning for your children's future. A Durable Power of Attorney and an Advance Healthcare Directive are essential documents for your student who is going off to college. If you have a child over 18 with unique needs who may not be going off to college but still needs protection, you may consider limited conservatorship or a supported decision making agreement. Although we no longer handle conservatorship matters, we are more than happy to provide great referrals to those who can help!

Since it’s summertime, I’ve seen several posts on recommended reading for vacation days, and I wanted to add to the list. 😊 I love reading fictional books written from a neurodiverse perspective – this helps me see the world in other ways and relate more to neurodiverse family members. I’m currently reading The Maid by Nina Prose – loving it so far! And here are some of my all-time favorites: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman The Rosie Project (and its sequel The Rosie Effect) by Graeme Simsion A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman The Speed of Dark by Elizabeth Moon What are your favorite fiction books with neurodiverse protagonists? Please comment below and help me add to my summer list!

We will be starting a bi-weekly FAQ series on common estate planning questions. We’ll cover common questions about general Estate Planning, Special Needs Planning, Trust Administration and more! This week: What should I consider when choosing an executor or trustee? Choose someone trustworthy, organized, and capable of managing financial matters. It can be a family member, friend, or professional fiduciary. Ensure they are willing to take on the responsibility. Here's a video where I discuss this! https://lnkd.in/gzCGvzq8
