Community Reach Center's mission is to enhance the health of our community.
About us
In 1957, Community Reach Center started in Commerce City, Colorado. It began with a small team of mental health experts from the University of Colorado Medical Center. Ten years later, a big change happened. The government passed the Community Mental Health Act to improve mental health care. This was part of President Kennedy’s plan for better mental health treatment. Our center was the first in our region to get support from this new law. We created a safe place for mental health care that people from other states came to see. Now, 65 years later, we help around 13,000 people every year. We provide care in different locations like clinics, schools, and homes to support our community.

Thank you University of Denver for hosting us at your panel, Exploring our Ethic of Care and Place for Black Communities. ❤️💛 We enjoyed connecting with DU students and joining the conversation about the importance of cultivating an environment of belonging for Black communities. Also, shoutout to all our Community Reach Center staff who participated in our Juneteenth festivities this week. Juneteenth marks the abolishment of slavery in the United States. Although President Lincoln declared the abolishment of slavery with the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, many enslaved people remained unaware of their freedom until Union soldiers arrived in Galveston on June 19, 1865. Today is remembered as the day the last enslaved Black people were freed and serves as a reminder of the long struggle for freedom and equity. It is a time for reflection, education, and celebration, highlighting Black Americans' resilience, achievements, and cultural contributions throughout history.

As we continue through #PrideMonth, we aim to raise awareness and provide resources about how you can help address challenges that disproportionately impact LGBTQ+ youth and adults. Understanding the struggles faced by the LGBTQ+ community is crucial for creating a happier and healthier future for everyone. Check out these incredible resources provided by National Council for Mental Wellbeing to learn more about how you can help pave the way for positive and lasting change. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 https://ow.ly/M9EE50Sjjv3
