  • Today, we are using Fact Sheet Friday to honor National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. So, we are highlighting a few easy ways for you to participate! These are just a few things you can do to support minority mental health this month: 1. Promote mentoring programs, community events, and volunteer organizations. 2. Understand that disparities exist and raise awareness. 3. Share mental health resources and participate in open dialogues. 4. Be responsive to diverse cultural health beliefs and practices. Mental health obstacles are a universal reality and should be regarded as such. Even a few simple gestures, including sharing resources on your social media stories and participating in constructive dialogues, go a long way toward building healthy mental health conversations for all. Everyone deserves to be heard, understood, and helped. Today, we encourage you to follow the guidelines set forth by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH) and seek to better understand how social determinants of health (SDOH), such as unique cultures, histories, and circumstances, create vastly different mental health realities for minority groups across the country. Today, let’s work together to build culturally inclusive and sensitive narratives around mental health 🧡 For more information, check out the Office of Minority Health’s website at https://lnkd.in/ekhzbfC.

  • On this Fact Sheet Friday, we want to look back at one of Communication and Culture’s first blog posts. This blog post, entitled “Beyond the Hospital Walls: Organizations Can Champion Health Equity Without Providing Medical Care,” provides excellent information on how companies can champion health equity, even if they aren’t directly involved in the medical/health fields. Here are just a few ways your organization can become a health equity advocate: 1. Support public health legislation 2. Raise public awareness of health equity issues 3. Host educational events and workshops to teach others about health equity 4. Start a social media campaign in support of health equity issues  5. Above all else, be the change you wish to see! To read the full article, be sure to check out the following link: https://lnkd.in/e6XrVihS We hope this helps you on your advocacy journey, and we wish you a happy weekend🧡
