Let's go to the Fair!
With the Ohio State Fair open this week at the Ohio Expo Center & State Fairgrounds, we're thrilled to share a glimpse into our upcoming fall exhibition, "Ming Smith: Transcendence," opening September 19.
Step back into the 1990s with Ming Smith's evocative images, capturing the landscapes and scenes of her youth. This collection includes visions of her childhood home, her family’s former neighborhood, family members, and the vibrant Ohio State Fair—a place of joy and wonder where Smith worked as a teenager.
"Being a black woman photographer was like being nobody. It was just my camera and me. I worked to capture black culture, the richness, the love. That was my incentive."
— Ming Smith
