On Thursday, May 16th the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) hosted their annual Memorial Service in Austin, Texas.   This service took place at the newly dedicated Fallen Officers Memorial which honors all Texas DPS Troopers, Special Agents, and Texas Rangers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.   Several hundred people attended the service including family of the fallen, members of the DPS, Texas Rangers, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott.  This memorial, which is open to the public, serves as a permanent place for generations of Texans to honor the legacy of DPS’ fallen heroes. The memorial consists of three panels which narrate the history of the department, each highlighting one area of DPS’ motto: courtesy, service, and protection. A fourth panel of the memorial is engraved with a dedication to the memory of fallen DPS officers. The fifth panel showcases DPS’ Wall of Honor, highlighting all the names of agency personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Coldspring is honored to have played a role in this project and multiple team members had the opportunity to attend the memorial service.  Through the collaboration with Pyrology https://pyrology.com/, who completed the design and bronze work for this project, Coldspring’s granite materials were utilized throughout the project ranging from the benches, retaining walls, statue bases, flag pole bases, giant monoliths, and a time capsule.   Photo credit:  Jose Rodriguez III - Texas DPS Regional Director (retired)

Congratulations to Reid Kubesh, Coldspring’s Vice President of Sales, Stone Products, on being selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Natural Stone Institute (NSI). The NSI which currently has a membership of over 2,000 members in over 50 countries, serves as the authoritative source for safety and technical standards and information regarding the use of natural stone. As a member of the Board of Directors, Reid will utilize his vast experience to promote, provide leadership, and further the advancement of the natural stone industry. In addition to his new role with the NSI, Reid also serves as the steering committee chair for the NSI North American Quarry Advocacy Group (NAQAG) and has participated in many NSI sponsored events throughout the years. At Coldspring, Reid leads and oversees sales for dimension block in domestic and international markets, slab sales for the countertop market in the Midwest, and landscape products.
