Coastal Community Foundation helps create communities rich equity, opportunity and well-being in Coastal SC.
About us
Coastal Community Foundation works to create communities rich in equity, well-being and opportunity through industry partnerships, thought leadership and advocacy, and by engaging donors who wish to be part of positive changes in coastal South Carolina. As we address policy changes and other large-scale needs to advance equity in our region, we create an environment where donors can amplify the impact of their generosity. We invest millions of dollars through grantmaking, impact investing and scholarships each year. We are known for understanding and acting upon the dynamic needs of the communities we serve, with examples including our disaster response efforts during and after major storms such as Hurricane Florence, and the creation of the Lowcountry Unity Fund in the wake of the Mother Emanuel AME Church massacre to support causes addressing systemic racism. With a mission to foster philanthropy for the lasting good of the community, Coastal Community Foundation manages more than $480 million in assets and awarded more than $30 million in grants in 2023.

"Green spaces are the foundations for resiliency and sustainability. Realizing how we treat the land today will impact future generations and that every one of us has the power to make a difference.” The Charleston Horticultural Society began as a fiscal sponsor of CCF in 1999. They currently work to ensure Lowcountry gardens are equally beautiful and sustainable.

"Being able to create a focused team to continue this work is a dream come true, especially as our city sits on the front lines of a true crisis." We are proud of the connections we help our donors build within the community. Not only was one fundholder able to make a significant contribution to The Post and Courier Public Service and Investigative Fund, but she provided the funding to a launch team of journalists dedicated to covering environmental issues, like flooding, along the coastline.
