Great session with Rob Liddiard today via The CMO Circle on The Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). Which is a framework designed to help entrepreneurs manage and grow their businesses. What struck me was the system is very simple in design, but cuts to the chase with focus and discipline on effective problem solving. Are you using technology, or is technology using you? A question posed by Mo Gawdat during the Intuit Mailchimp conference. One that has lodged itself deep in my brain. As we witnessed science fiction on stage, with Jon Evans chatting with Ameca, the world's most advanced AI humanoid, I couldn't help thinking - what will come of this? It's incredible, don't get me wrong. Having a semi-proper conversation with a real-life robot that can joke, write poetry and dance is the stuff of 5 year old me’s dreams. The speed at which technology now moves is dizzying. Moore's Law states that microprocessing speeds up every 18-24 months. It's now every 6 months. It will only get faster. The potential is mindblowing. Particularly in medical advances. For businesses, the democratisation of the tools gives us all the same immense opportunity. If we only leap and take it. It's also worrying - the tools which can be used to create can also be used to manipulate and divide. It's already happening. We see it all around us. While the opportunities are immense, we should also acknowledging the downsides. Knowledge work is already changing, and with that change comes obsolescence. We need to support people at a policy level as roles change and disappear. We need to remember our humanity, using technology to bring us closer together and to live better in the real world. To celebrate what humans do best, and to help us do it better. Yes, in marketing. But also in our everyday lives. To use technology with intention, so that it doesn’t use us. A few highlights 💡 from me: 📖 LinkedIn finally have an ad library so you can review all your competitors and other advertisers in your sector. 💭 You can now do thought leader ads for both your employees and 1st & 2nd connections for both awareness and engagement objectives. 📞 Over 75% of LI impressions are seen on mobile so make sure you create vertical ad versions of key ads (628 x 1200 px) 🐘 Don't set and forget - test, learn and refine but make sure you use controlled testing, so you know exactly what change has made the impact 🔦 Don't forget about dynamic spotlight ads - personalise them and they are great for driving awareness and if you set your objective to conversions are low cost as the CTR is usually less than 0.3% If you'd like the recording add a comment and we're happy to share.
