Empowering people to resolve conflicts respectfully and peacefully.
About us
CMCRI’s mission is to provide Rhode Island with a safe, accessible and confidential environment where people and organizations can engage in constructive dialogue, effectively manage conflicts and resolve disputes. To this end, we help develop better listening, communication and collaboration skills that result in improved personal and professional relationships. CMCRI offers mediation, group facilitation, conflict coaching, dispute systems design, consulting and training services to individuals, families, governmental bodies and both for-profit and non-profit corporations throughout the State of Rhode Island. Our diverse, highly trained, experienced staff and community volunteers enable us to offer high quality and affordable services. In providing these services, we embrace the following principles: - Diversity and inclusiveness leads to more positive and enduring results; - Self-determination is a fundamental human right and empowering individuals to craft their own solutions is an essential element of effective conflict and decision-making; - Building capacity in the community so that people can prevent and resolve conflict in their own lives is essential for preventing violence as well as finding and implementing positive and effective change; and - Participation - in our own disputes; in decisions that affect our lives; in our local and national civic infrastructure – is part of our birthright as Americans and as human beings.

Mediation works!
President Kennedy envisioned CRS to “provide valuable services by identifying tensions before they reach the crisis stage” and help communities “sit down and reason together.” For 60 years, we’ve embodied this promise through communication and empathy: http://www.justice.gov/crs

We are always so grateful for the support we receive from the RHODE ISLAND BAR FOUNDATION (IOLTA)! We especially love to be part of the annual luncheon where scholarships and other grantees are recognized. This year was even more special because our two newest board members Tamera Rocha, Esq. and Rick Sticca were able to join us! And of course special thanks to our liaison Lauren Jones!
