Today's intern spotlight is Mark Matson! Mark is a purchasing intern with Procurement's Disposable Foodservice Supplies team. In this role, Mark has had the opportunity to research products, look closely at trends and forecasting, work on marketing, new item adds, and customer analysis to see buying trends firsthand. When asked why he chose to complete his summer internship with Clark, Mark said, "Penn State and Clark have a longstanding partnership and I was able to hear from Clark employees about their experiences and the value of taking risks and having ownership of your work. After interviewing, I experienced Clark's culture and values firsthand and knew I wanted to intern here!" Mark is heading into his junior year at Penn State University and is working towards a degree in Supply Chain & Information Systems with a minor in International Business.

Last week our Procurement team held their mid-year town hall! Employees heard from members of our Executive Team, Founder and Chairman Fred Clark, and Procurement leadership. Other highlights included an exciting game of The Price is Right and a customer panel with special guests from Souvlaki Boys, Lancaster Cupcake, and Hudson Botanical!

Today's intern spotlight is Courtney Guthrie! Courtney is a purchasing intern with Procurement's Furniture, Beverage Equipment & Storage team. In this role, Courtney works closely with her team to manage their items, prices, order fulfillment, stock, and content. When asked why she chose to complete her summer internship with Clark, Courtney said, "Interns are embraced into the culture and given every opportunity to grow and find the best path for their future! Clark also stood out for the hungry, humble, and smart mentality which you see in every employee!" Courtney is heading into her junior year at Randolph-Macon College and is working towards a degree in Economics with a minor in Communication.

Our Lancaster Parents Group recently hosted CPR classes for employees at our corporate campus! These two-hour sessions were taught by a certified American Safety Health Institute instructor, who is also a Clark Associates employee, and included a presentation and hands-on practice. At the end of the course, employees received a certification for CPR/AED for adults, infants, and children, valid for two years!

We're excited to announce that The Restaurant Store opened its first Florida location this week! The 67,000 square-foot-facility is located in Orlando and marks The Restaurant Store's 12th store location. President Steve Leaman said, "Orlando opens a new chapter for The Restaurant Store. We are excited to build on (our) foundational values and expand our market reach into Florida over the next decade.”

Today's intern spotlight is Drew Gibble! Drew is a purchasing intern with Procurement's Perishables team and is currently completing his second summer internship with Clark. As a returning intern, Drew has more responsibility which includes managing vendors, placing POs, and adding new items to the vegan, fruit, and vegetable categories. When asked what he's enjoyed most about his internship with Clark, Drew said, "I like the ownership that is given to interns, as we have similar responsibilities to full time employees. The various projects and variety of work that I have done makes no two days the exact same." Drew is heading into his senior year of college at Penn State University and is working towards a degree in Supply Chain & Information Systems.

Clark Associates Charitable Foundation was a proud sponsor of Long's Park Summer Music Series' Sunday, July 28th concert! Concert-goers enjoyed the sounds of Charley Horse, Corty & The Light, and High Times Band as they paid tribute to The Band, The Grateful Dead, and The Allman Brothers Band. Long's Park Summer Music Series showcases remarkable talents in remarkably beautiful settings and is a free community offering.

Our interns have been hard at work this summer and we're excited to spotlight them, starting with Victoria Whitehead! Victoria is a Procurement intern with our Cooking/Baking Supplies team. In this role, Victoria supports the current initiatives and projects for bakeware and cookware. She has also been working on a large Wok project! When asked why she chose to complete her summer internship with Clark, Victoria said, "There is truly so much room for growth, specifically in Procurement. The opportunity to learn from leaders in the industry and gain hands-on experience is what sets Clark apart from other companies." Victoria is heading into her junior year at York College of Pennsylvania and is working towards a degree in supply chain operations management.

Here's the scoop! Our corporate campus celebrated National Ice Cream Month with Penny's Ice Cream. Employees lined up to score their favorite Penny's flavor - the perfect treat on a hot summer day! 

Clark Associates Charitable Foundation (CACF) is a proud supporter of the Clinic for Special Children, a nonprofit medical practice for children and adults with rare genetic disorders. CACF recently joined a team of corporate and individual donors to help fund the construction of their new 28,062-square-foot facility in Gordonville, PA. The Clinic for Special Children celebrated the opening of their new medical practice with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 20!
