About us
Civitas Networks for Health is a national collaborative comprised of member organizations working to use health information exchange, health data, and multi-stakeholder, cross-sector approaches to improve health. Civitas Networks for Health reposted this
CEO of Civitas Networks for Health + board member, health tech advisor, and interoperability, data, and value-based care expert
Big news from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), now the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy and ONC (ASTP-ONC - nothing the government loves more than a long acronym!). I'm hopeful that technology policy will be a core function of HHS going forward. Also interesting to note that the 405(d) cybersecurity public-private partnership program will move from another division to the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR). It makes sense for HHS to consolidate and focus HHS cybersecurity policy in one division, in particular given the current landscape.
Today HHS announced a reorganization that will streamline and bolster tech, cyber, data and AI strategy & policy functions. ONC is now the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy and Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ASTP/ONC) and will assume oversight over tech, data and AI policy & strategy for the department, including the HHS-wide roles of Chief Technology Officer, Chief Data Officer, and Chief AI Officer.
