At City Thread, we believe that tackling the climate crisis involves creating safe, comfortable, and convenient streets for all road users. That's why Zoe is in DC, engaging with leaders and experts to push this mission forward. Stay tuned for updates from this event.

About us
Strengthening the connections in our communities is more important than ever. City Thread is a national, non-profit organization working to connect people and communities. We identify the right mix of partners, resources, strategy, and accountability to help local leaders think broadly about their projects and outcomes. The City Thread team combines 40+ years of experience in urban planning, marketing, communications, equitable public participation, fundraising, grant making, community engagement, strategic planning, and campaign management. We collaborate with diverse teams of elected officials, city staff, community leaders, funders, and residents to identify problems, brainstorm solutions, and develop a shared vision to accelerate mobility and place-based projects. Our custom strategies prioritize local coalition-building to develop organizations and launch campaigns that achieve success for everyone.

Patrick Hendricks, Abby Miller, and Yendra Ruiz T. are part of City Thread’s story, and vision to help city government and residents work better together. More than board members they are thought partners, fun to be around, and good humans. I have so many things to be grateful for, and these three are on the list.
We’re still reminiscing about the fun we had at our recent board retreat. We kicked it off with a block print workshop led by our friend and colleague, Nick Aguilera. Each of us created our own block print stamp inspired by "a place that makes us happy" or "where we feel connected to our community." Stay tuned to see what we’re cooking up next!

We’re proud to join forces with corporations, community advocates, governments, and innovators to accelerate mobility solutions for our communities. Special shoutout to Equitable Cities LLC for being chosen as a key partner in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Reconnecting Communities Institute.

Spokane, WA has invested in affordable housing but hasn’t been aggressive with its transportation infrastructure, until now. Bringing the two together, along with an active, diverse coalition already in place, will be a game-changer for this city of 230,000 residents. We’re excited to roll up our sleeves and get to work.

Meet our summer intern, Marc Shackelford-Rowell! A Philadelphia native now based in Memphis, Marc is currently completing his Master’s in City and Regional Planning. He’s an avid cyclist who’s founded multiple startups around sustainability initiatives. After graduation, he plans to build net-zero homes near greenways for low to moderate income homebuyers. Help us welcome him in the comments.

Introducing Truus Abuosi, one of our summer interns! As a Master’s student in City and Regional Planning, Truus excels in data analysis, literature review, and academic writing. Passionate about urban development and community empowerment, she hopes to learn more about working with municipal governments and understanding how public-private partnerships can drive positive change in cities. Drop her a warm welcome below.

We’re on our way to Ghent, Belgium for Velo-city conference 2024 where Kyle will be discussing some of the root causes of cycling initiatives gone wrong and how to transform setbacks into opportunities for growth. We can’t wait to connect and collaborate with you all! https://lnkd.in/eAdyjUM2 #VC24
