Mayor Flowers was among many area elected officials who joined Congressman Pat Ryan and U.S. Department of Education Secretary Miguel Cardona at a roundtable discussion event today at Dutchess Community College. Cardona was in the area to help break ground on the site for the new Ulster BOCES, SUNY New Paltz, and SUNY Ulster Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming center at iPark 87. After that, Ryan convened the roundtable discussion that included Dutchess Community College President Peter Grant Jordan, students and others to talk about Career and Technical Education programming initiatives. The discussion focused on trades and skill building, and workforce development opportunities for area youth. Mayor Flowers thanked Congressman Ryan for facilitating the discussion, “as we work to build a workforce that has the necessary skills to take advantage of today’s job opportunities.”
