The City of Monticello is currently accepting applications for part-time DMV Clerks to work at our Monticello DMV office. Qualified applicants must have previous customer service and data entry experience and be available to work approximately 25 hours per week including, 2 Saturday mornings per month. Now that summer break is on the horizon, the Wright Count Sheriff's Office (WCSO) would like to remind residents of the City's curfew: ▫️ Individuals under 16 should not be in public after 10:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. ▫️ Those aged 16-18 should be accompanied by a parent/guardian between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. Curfews are enforced by Monticello's local law enforcement agency, WCSO. The Big Picture: In 2024 Monticello is proposing one sales tax to fund two projects: The Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Athletic Park and The Pointes at Cedar Recreational Area. Voters will be asked to consider approving the ½ cent tax for both, one, or neither of the projects on the General Election ballot on November 5, 2024. If the ½ cent tax is approved to fund both projects, it will be in effect for a maximum of 20 years. If the ½ cent tax is approved for one project, it will be in place a maximum of 10 years. Memorial Day is Monday, May 27! Hi-Way Liquors will be open from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. City Hall, Public Works, the DMV, and the Monticello Community Center will be closed. Make a splash this summer with us at Camp Manitou! Beginning May 25 through Sept. 8, MCC pool staff will operate the outdoor pool and splash pad at Camp Manitou from 12-6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays (weather permitting). MCC members get in for free! Camp Manitou offers an outdoor aquatic center at Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park. The water features are open to campers and the public for $10 per person, children 3 and under are free. This partnership is a welcome addition to the MCC’s wide range of amenities including our indoor pool and waterslide, fitness center and classes, climbing wall, and ice arena. The Monticello Community Center (MCC) will begin their summer hours this Saturday, May 25! The MCC will be open: - 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday - 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays - Closed on Sundays The Community Center's summer hours are in effect through Sunday, Sept. 8. There's still time to register as a Vendor or Bike Sponsor for Walk & Roll! We are currently accepting vendors and bike sponsors. There’s no charge for vendors to participate, but a free will donation is appreciated. We’re also looking for bike sponsors! Bike sponsorships are $200 per bike. Businesses can also donate new unused bikes, skateboards, and scooters. You can drop off your donations at City Hall, 505 Walnut Street (inside the Community Center). We'll be walking and rolling on Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Bike sponsors and/or vendors must register to participate by Friday, May 31.
