The City of Greeley will receive $3,508,404 from the Federal Transit Administration to buy five compressed natural gas (CNG) buses for use on a new bus route between Greeley and City of Loveland. Funding for the transit investment comes from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The new buses will be used to facilitate limited-stop, regional service between Greeley and Loveland. Key stops along the U.S. 34 route will include connections to the University of Northern Colorado, the I-25 mobility hub at Centerra, as well as the City of Greeley’s future Mobility Expansion for Regional Growth and Equity (MERGE) mobility hub. This service, with the support of a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) grant, is slated to start in 2026. Read more about the funding at https://lnkd.in/guskFWeR

The City of Greeley recently launched a new program called “Looking Good in the Neighborhood!” It's all about appreciating residents who take great care of their homes. Instead of focusing on rules and codes, this program celebrates people who go above and beyond to keep their properties clean and welcoming. Every month from June through September, code compliance inspectors will pick homes in each of their districts that stand out for their excellent upkeep. These homes don't need reminders about rules because they already look fantastic. The first round of recognition was mailed to homeowners last week. Code Compliance Manager Buxton Demers said, “This program is about showing gratitude for what many residents are doing right. When yards and sidewalks are well-kept, it shows that the community cares. The City of Greeley welcomes Martha Lanaghen as the city’s new Director of Human Resources.   Lanaghen came to the city as Interim Director of Human Resources in December of 2023. Since that time, she has proven her ability to think strategically, lead a large and complex team, and drive process improvement in a dynamic environment.    As Director of Human Resources, Lanaghen will continue to lead the team responsible for talent management and employee engagement while overseeing HR policies and programs, developing city culture and employee engagement initiatives, and ensuring consistent implementation of policies and procedures across the organization.   Learn more about Lanaghen at https://lnkd.in/gagtUz5w

The City of Greeley welcomes Kelli Johnson as the Assistant City Manager.     Johnson has been on the city’s leadership team for more than five years. She initially served as the Director of Communication and Engagement before transitioning into the role of Chief of Staff in March 2022. Johnson will now use her talents at the city in her new role as Assistant City Manager. In her time with the city, Johnson has proven herself to be both a leader and a strategic partner. In her most recent role as chief of staff, Johnson served as senior advisor to the city manager, the city manager’s cabinet, and the executive leadership team. Her efforts have resulted in improved communication, enhanced relationships with the city council, and the successful execution of several critical projects. Other notable accomplishments include enhancing project accountability, establishing time-saving structures to focus leadership’s attention and increase the speed of decision-making, and facilitating strategic, operational, and cultural shifts within the city's administration. In her new role as Assistant City Manager, Johnson will manage and oversee multiple departments. She will work with a team of department directors to ensure that performance goals are met, and city policies and procedures are followed. Her responsibilities will also include meeting the objectives set by the City Manager, adhering to operating and capital budgets, and resolving employee grievances with care and efficiency. Last week was a busy week for the City of Greeley! On Wednesday, we celebrated the groundbreaking of Delta Park. So much planning has gone into this revitalization project, including collaboration with Trust for Public Land, City staff and community members, leaders and organizations. We're so thankful for everyone who has had a hand in this project, and can't wait to see the transformation realized.

The City of Greeley will receive $20.5 million in federal grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation for the MERGE (Mobility Expansion for Regional Growth and Equity) Project. MERGE is a public transit-oriented project that includes construction of a regional new mobility hub and improved interchanges at 35th Avenue and 47th Avenue along U.S. Highway 34. Thank you to the U.S. Department of Transportation and to our elected officials like Senator Michael Bennet and Senator John Hickenlooper, Representative Yadira Caraveo for your support and for this significant award of RAISE (Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity) grant funding to improve traffic safety and mobility in our fast growing community and North Range region! The MERGE project represents a significant milestone in Greeley’s infrastructure development, promising a safer, more connected future for all residents. Greeley’s ability to complete critical infrastructure projects such as this relies on additional funding from grant sources (like RAISE) and funds that the city proposes to obtain from low-interest, long-term, federal financing. A proposal is slated to go in front of voters this fall that would allow Greeley to take advantage of this federal financing, without increasing or creating new taxes. In 2020, Greeley Water and its partner, Utility Metering Solutions, LLC, (UMS) set out to replace nearly 30,000 aging water meters in Greeley. The city expects the new meters to boost water savings by providing customers with additional tools to manage their water use. The city has approximately 1,100 commercial water meters left to replace. Greeley Water is mindful of the potential impact this project can have on businesses, so the city is scheduling replacements of indoor meters and coordinating replacement of outdoor meters to minimize interruptions. The commercial meters have the same benefits as those being installed on residential properties—better tracking of water use and leak alerts. The new meters also communicate via cell phone towers so they eliminate the need for city meter readers to drive through neighborhoods to manually collect usage data. To reduce the project’s impact on ratepayers, the city applied for and received $3.5 million in grant funding from WaterSmart since 2022. We're thrilled to introduce Nick Hoyle as the new Information Technology Director for the City of Greeley! Nick brings a wealth of experience from his tenure in higher education at Aims Community College and the University of Northern Colorado (UNC), where he served in key IT roles before joining us as Deputy Chief Information Officer in March 2022. Having taken charge of crucial operations and services since January 2023, Nick's official promotion is a testament to his dedication and hard work. In his new role, Nick will lead the charge in overseeing all aspects of our city's IT systems and infrastructure, ensuring their efficiency and security to support our business operations and strategic objectives. He'll also be at the helm of a dynamic team of IT professionals, aligning technology initiatives with our organizational goals.

Greeley Water & Sewer staff actively engage with other regional water industry professionals to offer support and exchange ideas in an ever-changing industry. Dena Egenhoff, Greeley's water conservation manager, and Ruth Quade, water conservation coordinator, recently shared their insights into the city’s water conservation program with others in the Transformative Water Leadership Academy (TWLA). This prestigious 10-month program, a collaboration between the American Water Works Association and WaterNow Alliance, is designed to help shape future leaders in drinking water, wastewater, stormwater management, and water reuse. The academy emphasizes the integration of social, environmental, and financial considerations into critical decision-making, laying the foundation for sustainable community leadership.
