Be aware of lane closures and detours on N. Garland Avenue at Apollo Rd./Spring Creek Drive this weekend as crews restripe crosswalks in this area. The left lane and left turn lanes of N. Garland Ave (in both directions) will be closed from Saturday, July 13 at 6:00 a.m. thru Sunday, July 14 at 5:00 p.m. The right lanes will remain open in both directions throughout this period. Traffic wishing to turn left at this intersection will be detoured.

The new Surf & Swim Aquatics Facility construction is expected to start this summer adjacent to Audubon Recreation Center, 342 W. Oates Road. The new facility will have a winding lazy river, a tranquil leisure pool, an aquatic playground, a dedicated children’s pool, three new waterslides and shade structures. The revitalized Surf & Swim will also include a party room for celebrating birthdays and other special events, and a concession stand. The existing Surf & Swim facility, built in 1984, will be demolished. While we wait for this incredible facility to be completed, it’s important to know the places in Garland that are open and ready to provide you with a fun space to enjoy the water and stay cool … like the splash pads at Wynne, Embree and Watson parks. There is also a brand-new water feature at the Downtown Square.
