🌟 Exciting News for Apache Junction! 🌟 Phase 1 of the City’s Urban Night Sky Place (UNSP) Project is underway at City Hall and the Police Department! 🚀 We are currently replacing all outdoor light fixtures, including parking lot lighting, walkway lighting, bollards, and security lighting, to be fully shielded with a color temperature of 3,000K or less. 🌌 Dark sky lighting is crucial to our community as it reduces light pollution, preserves natural habitats, and allows for better views of the night sky. ✨ Want to be more Dark Sky friendly? Check out https://darksky.org/ for tips and best practices! 🌠 #DarkSky #UrbanNightSkyPlace #ApacheJunction #LightPollution #SustainableLiving

Get excited for the spotlight this week, as we will be featuring a dedicated member of our Animal Control Department! Brandi is our dedicated Kennel Assistant in the Animal Control Department and has been with the City of Apache Junction for six years in August. Beginning her journey with us as a part-time employee while in school, she transitioned to a full-time role upon graduating. Brandi’s hard work and dedication were recognized early on when she was awarded Civilian Employee of the Year in 2021 at the age of 19. Born and raised in Apache Junction, Brandi's connection to the community is strong. Outside of work, she enjoys a multitude of hobbies including reading, writing fantasy stories, drawing, and painting—often capturing the animals at the shelter or her coworkers’ pets. Currently, she’s passionate about crocheting and knitting, working on two sweaters with her craft circle friends. Brandi also has a beloved pet dog, Koshka, a 9-year-old black Staffordshire Terrier mixed with a quirky crooked tail, whom she adopted from the shelter five years ago. A tea enthusiast, Brandi boasts an elaborate tea setup at home, complete with various teas, sugar cubes, and fancy honey. Halloween is her favorite holiday; she loves all things spooky and enjoys scaring trick-or-treaters at her brother’s house while dressed up. Brandi's commitment to her role and her vibrant personality makes her an invaluable member of our team. Thank you, Brandi, for all that you do! 🌟 #EmployeeSpotlight #CityOfApacheJunction #TeamHighlights
