CITC stands for Cook Inlet Tribal Council. But more than that, CITC stands for people, partnership, and potential. Our mission is to work in partnership with Our People to develop opportunities that fulfill Our endless potential. Since its inception in 1983, CITC has grown from a fledgling, grass-roots operation with only three employees, to one of the nation’s preeminent culturally responsive social-service organizations serving nearly 12,000 people annually, and employing more than 400 passionate and caring individuals. An array of support services includes education, employment and training services, workforce development, family preservation, and support for individuals recovering from addiction, substance abuse, or incarceration.

Dialogues Grant from Alaska Humanities Forum deadline is June 30. https://lnkd.in/gdkwkjb3 Examples of potential grant projects include: facilitated community conversations; facilitated community forums; and other gatherings whose primary purpose is for participants to be in conversation with each other, learn from one another, and share perspectives. Note that Dialogues Grants cannot fund: Programming that advocates for public policies, candidates, elections, or pieces of legislation (including direct lobbying, grassroots lobbying, and electoral activities). This restriction is because our funding comes from the National Endowment for the Humanities, a federal agency. Programming that does not bring Alaskans into active dialogue with each other. For example, a lecture, panel or presentation would not be eligible. Programming whose primary purpose is to fundraise or promote an organization.   • Caught between two worlds, Carvell Shade never felt like he fit in—until he met the friends who introduced him to drugs. When he sought treatment at CITC, he discovered that community is the opposite of addiction. Now, as the nutrition coordinator at CITC's Ernie Turner Center residential treatment center, Carvell shares his culture and his experience to connect with others on their sobriety journey. This is Carvell's personal story about working with CITC. Our Recovery and Reentry Services provide comprehensive treatment to assist individuals throughout all stages of recovery from substance abuse or addiction, including assessments, residential and outpatient services, and individual and group counseling. Alumni and peer-support services guide individuals in gaining needed support to maintain sobriety and use prevention. We also offer support for those re-entering society after incarceration.
