    We’ve covered subscription length and annual subscription customers when it comes to creating cohorts for cancel flows. But there are two more major subsets to consider 💡 1) Trialing customers Users who are attempting to cancel during a trial period likely haven’t had a chance to really experience the product yet. Offering them a free trial extension is an incentive that we’ve found most customers engage well with. 2) Legacy pricing customers Customers who have been with you long enough to have legacy pricing typically respond well to messaging reminding them that they’ll lose their special pricing tier if they cancel.     As you’re creating cohorts for your cancel flows, don’t forget about your annual customers… When it comes to creating cohorts for your cancel flows, annual subscription customers have to be handled differently than your monthly subscription customers. That’s because any coupon discount you offer them will be applied to 12 months instead of one, and it’s stacked on top of the discount they’re already getting for being an annual subscriber 💰 We’ve found that gently reminding customers of these standing discounts and highlighting these facts in the offer language is highly effective when it comes to retaining more annual customers.     Wondering where to start when you’re creating cohorts? Try subscription length 🗒 Brand new customers who are attempting to churn have a very different mindset toward the product than customers who have been with you for years. They’ve probably not even fully onboarded or engaged with the product yet, which means they have very different motivations for canceling. That’s why we’ve found that this cohort typically responds well to a more generous offer to get them re-engaged. Try finding a surface area of coupons you’re comfortable giving out, and calculate which gives the best returns. Have you tried creating a subscription length cohort?
