Today, we had the privilege of celebrating the team members at Church Community Services. During breakfast, we expressed gratitude for their dedication and love towards the people they serve. I referred to them as "superheroes" this morning because they do more than offer a service, a box of essentials, or a budgeting class. They provide a helping hand, a word of encouragement, a listening ear, and a safe place free of judgment. They do all of this because they love their job and the people and truly believe in the organization's mission and vision. We want to thank all the Church Community Services staff for their unconditional love and support to the community. We also want to give a special shoutout to Kyle Martin from Martin Marketing, and Benjamin Nuss from JBS USA Prepared Foods Elkhart for the items donated to fill the team members' stockings. #JBSElkhart #communityimpact

Exemplary Foam and Century Foam staff are volunteering in our warehouse today. Century Foam - from design to delivery, they make ordering custom foam easy. They sure helped us with hundreds of shelf stable bags for our pantry guests! Thanks Century and Exemplary Foam and Ashley Jordan at AOS. We couldn't do it without you.

September is Hunger Awareness Month. Although September is ending, there are still ways to help alleviate hunger in the community. Hunger is a critical issue in America, affecting millions of people, including 9 million children, as per the USDA. It's important to understand that hunger is prevalent in all communities, with rural areas being hit harder. Hunger can affect anyone, and many people in America have only one job loss, missed paycheck, or medical emergency away from food insecurity. However, hunger doesn't affect everyone equally, with groups like children, seniors, and people of color being more vulnerable. It's essential to understand that hunger is a widespread issue; anyone from our neighbors to children's classmates and coworkers could struggle to get enough to eat. Together, we can make a difference by helping our neighbors. You can visit our website for ways to contribute. https://lnkd.in/gEBgr2Vy

Are you familiar with the services our food pantry provides to the community? *During August 2023, our food pantry served 1,755 households, representing over 6,140 people. Each guest received approximately 70 pounds of food. *For September 2023, we have served 1,023 households to date, with approximately 60 pounds of food per guest (fresh produce started to decline). This represents over 3,580 people. *We are also proud to share that on the 6th and 7th of September 2023, we served 312 people in two days. We take pride in providing food safety to our community while ensuring they receive it from friendly staff and volunteers. We are blessed to count on community partners like Meijer to run a campaign to support us. If you visit their new store in Elkhart, you can help Church Community Services continue to serve the community by purchasing a $10.00 gift card. If you want more information about the food pantry, its services, and how you can help, please get in touch with Keith Sarber, or visit our website. Https://https://lnkd.in/gEBgr2Vy
