Hey Neighbor! On June 25th, CI hosted the Association of State Drinking Water Administrators (ASDWA) for an in-office lunch. During a building event a couple of months ago, CI staff discovered ASDWA and CI happened to be housed in the same building! ASDWA is the professional association serving state drinking water programs and provides state administrators with national representation. ASDWA members are the drinking water program administrators in the 50 States, five Territories, the Navajo Nation, and the District of Columbia. The group exchanged many thoughts about overlapping areas of focus, and we hope to collaborate in the near future. We are pleased to stand alongside our colleagues in celebration of a public health milestone: the Safe Drinking Water Act’s 50th Anniversary! Check out their website: https://www.asdwa.org/ In the first photo below, CI staff share how CI members supported DHS CSAC's work on chlorine dispersion modeling. In the second, CI Staff and ASDWA staff took a group photo. #SDWA50 #CITurns100 #ASDWA

Did you know that CI held its first Chlorine Rail Safety & Hazmat Emergency Response Training event of the year in New Geismar, LA? Over the course of two days (April 17-18), 108 students were trained. The student makeup included not only first responders, but industry was also represented. The free training provided students with a mix of classroom and hands-on exercises including Chlorine 101, Railroad 101, Emergency A, B, and C kits, Magnetic Patch and more. Thanks to the instructors who participated in this event, and special thanks to the Oxy Geismar plant for requesting the training and serving the group lunch. CI’s outreach to the first responder community is successful because of the support of our members. #firstresponders #chlorine #CITurns100 #hazmattraining #safety

Did you know that June is National Safety Month? For each week of the month, the National Safety Council (NSC) chooses a different topic to bring attention to. This year, the NSC is focusing on safety engagement, roadway safety, risk reduction, and slips, trips, and falls. To recap, week 1 elaborated on the importance of safety engagement. It is critical for both employers and employees to be engaged in safety. Safety is one of CI’s Core Values; our organization is committed to safety, and vows to keep safety first in all our actions and activities (more info here: https://lnkd.in/eECY7Gdh). By working together, employees can develop policies and procedures to identify, monitor, mitigate, and eliminate work-related hazards. The Council encourages all workers to take the SafeAtWork pledge to show their commitment to safety. Take the #SafeAtWork Pledge today: https://lnkd.in/g8a4Aka9 Source: https://lnkd.in/ehJfrH6W #NationalSafetyMonth #Staysafe #CI #CoreValues

Please join us in celebrating our May Member Spotlight, Justin Cox, from Oxychem Corporation! When asked about his favorite CI memory or success story, Justin replied, "Recently I served as the Chairperson for CHLOREP Team Training in Mississippi. It was amazing to be a part of something so great! I witnessed firsthand the months of preparation to plan this event. My colleagues did an incredible job putting this impactful training together and I would like to recognize their dedication to making this critical training possible. The other component that impacted me were the conversations throughout the week with instructors and students. Their passion for the essential services that we provide is contagious." Justin, we appreciate all your efforts and participation over the years. We hope you know that you are a valued part of CI!
