A world without childhood cancer is possible, but only with your help.

About us

Children’s Cancer Research Fund supports the brightest scientists whose ideas make the greatest impact for children with cancer. We also support vital family services and advocate for childhood cancer education and awareness. Our goal is to help researchers develop safer, more effective treatment options for cancers where survival rates remain low or haven’t improved in decades. We provide research funding in the early stages of research and fill in gaps along the way, when funding from federal or other sources just isn’t available. Thanks to you, our support jumpstarts new ideas and propels research forward. Better treatment options and cures always start with donors like you - visit ChildrensCancer.org to join us.

  • This #ThankfulThursday we are grateful for the support of R.J. & Liz Shook and SHOOK Research R.J. and Liz have been influential in driving support for groundbreaking childhood cancer research through their partnership with Children's Cancer Research Fund. At the annual Forbes SHOOK Top Advisors Summit, SHOOK Research is raising awareness of the need for lifesaving childhood cancer treatments. As a result, they have raised nearly $4 million to develop potentially lifesaving treatments for children with rare and aggressive cancers, supporting clinical trials at the University of Minnesota, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Earlier this month at Dream, CCRF's annual gala, we presented R.J. with the Dream Maker Award, an exclusive award presented to those who have shown truly exceptional support as we select and fund innovative research to deliver breakthrough treatments to children. R.J. and Liz passionately champion CCRF's cause, introducing thousands of new supporters to our mission. Thank you, R.J., for your presence at Dream and for the progress in childhood cancer research that you've made possible. SHOOK Research

  • Tonight, over 400 business and community leaders will gather at Dream, Children’s Cancer Research Fund’s signature gala. Dream will fund the brightest minds who are pursuing better, safer treatments for rare and hard-to-treat childhood cancers. At Dream, our audience will meet Megan, an incredible 13-year-old who has spent over half her life battling osteosarcoma. In sharing her story, Megan is leaving her comfort zone to advocate for kids like her. She doesn’t want other kids to lose years of their childhood to hospital stays and surgeries. She wants to ensure that the kids who are diagnosed after her have safe treatment options available, and a long, bright future ahead. “For research, you’ve got to have money. For money, you have to have people willing to give you money and people just need to give from their hearts,” Megan said. You can support this lifesaving work at Dream.ChildrensCancer.org.

  • Over half of all funding for childhood cancer research is from philanthropic organizations like Children’s Cancer Research Fund. Dr. Beau Webber, an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Minnesota, knows that the future for kids fighting cancer can only get brighter with supporters like you. “Support from the Children's Cancer Research Fund is very important…to bridge the divide between the lab bench and the clinic, and I think that's one of the biggest challenges that we face.” Dr. Webber’s laboratory focuses on synergizing genome engineering, stem cell biology and adoptive cellular therapy to develop new treatments for childhood cancer. Learn more and join us in funding the brightest minds investigating the boldest solutions for childhood cancer by supporting the Dream Fund at Dream.ChildrensCancer.org.

  • We have to be bold. Today’s treatments for childhood cancers are often adapted from adult treatments. They’re not meant for kids, whose bodies are still growing. Too many don’t survive – and the ones who do often have decades of health issues ahead of them. Dr. Emily Greengard, a Pediatric Hematologist and Oncologist and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Minnesota, sees these devastating effects first-hand. “I see it every day. I see these kids suffer for years from multiple recurrences. These kids muster up so much strength and perseverance, and they deserve better.” - Dr. Greengard Learn more and support the work that brilliant researchers like Dr. Greengard are doing to develop better, safer treatment options for childhood cancers at Dream.ChildrensCancer.org.

  • This Thankful Thursday, we want to express our gratitude to the faculty and students at Gustavus Adolphus College and Medical Inflatables for helping to bring young cancer survivor Fritz’s video game creation to life on their campus last month – during finals week, no less! The filming, led by James Orrigo – who worked with Fritz to create this game – involved secret agents, lab techs, a giant inflatable brain and featured Fritz as a slime-blasting, cancer-killing SNAIL-CAT. Members of the Gustavus band even performed live the theme music to the game. Thank you to all involved for helping to create an unforgettable day for our cancer-fighting friend Fritz.
