Chautauqua Institution is proud to announce The Roe Green Foundation has made a transformational $4.5 million commitment to advance the completion of the new Roe Green Theater Center, a state-of-the-art, centralized facility for Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC). This gift, which consists of a $3 million outright contribution and a $1.5 million matching challenge gift, comes after a long history of supporting theater arts at Chautauqua, including the New Play Workshop series. Fellowships are offered to early-career designers as well as graduate-level candidates in scenic, lighting, sound, projections and costume design. Hamill’s passion lies in crafting feminist, female-centered classics, exploring the complexities of women’s stories through original plays and adaptations, such as CTC’s 2023 production of 'Pride and Prejudice,' featuring guest artists Ray Anthony Thomas and Tina Benko. Conservatory applications are now open! Chautauqua Theater Company is committed to developing the next generation of theater artists. The heart of CTC’s educational programming is the Conservatory. We bring together top emerging theater artists from around the country for hands-on training and work experience, helping to bridge the gap between artist training and professional careers. Acting Conservatory members will have the opportunity to work on classic and contemporary texts as well as develop new plays with the industry’s most exciting playwrights, actors, teachers and directors. Training will include workshops, intensives, master classes and networking events. Design Fellows will get the opportunity to assist the industry’s most exciting designers and directors. FutureNow Stage Directing Fellows, in partnership with The Drama League, receive production experience, career development, mentorship, and intimate access to the creative and administrative processes. All conservatory members receive a full scholarship, including housing and a stipend. The Drama League has revealed details of the new expansion of its FutureNow Directing Fellowships, the award-winning development program that has launched the careers of many of today's most acclaimed Broadway directors, including Rachel Chavkin (Hadestown), Lear deBessonet (Into The Woods), and Michael Mayer (Funny Girl). Chautauqua Theater Company (Producing Artistic Director Jade King Carroll, General Manager Emily Glinick) has joined The Drama League and longtime partner TheaterWorks USA (Artistic Director Barbara Pasternack, Associate Artistic Director Jillian Carucci) to offer the new program for emerging stage directors.
