Helping leaders activate their organizations to achieve their highest aspirations.
About us
We at CFAR bring a commitment to unleashing potential and maximizing impact for our clients, through our management consulting and executive coaching services that deliver both desired outcomes and improved relationships. We have, for close to four decades, provided guidance and expertise to tackle the thorniest issues—ones often rooted in a misalignment between important organizational goals and individual beliefs about what it will take to achieve them. We come to our work as curious problem-solvers. Our heritage as the Wharton School’s only multi-disciplinary, applied research center lives on in our continued dedication to advising leaders on complex organizational issues where both people and performance matter. CFAR’s mission is to help leaders activate their organizations to achieve their highest aspirations—productively, meaningfully, profitably, and with impact. We take a multidisciplinary, systemic approach to consulting and coaching engagements, drawing on a seasoned team of experienced consultants from a variety of disciplines and with a broad range of training, credentials, and capabilities. Our clients lead organizations where mission and purpose are central and engagement and alignment matter—in healthcare, family enterprises, owner-led businesses, higher education, foundations, associations, and other corporate and non-profit entities. Together, we partner to first discover (sometimes hidden) obstacles to success and then break through them using research-based ideas, tools, and approaches. Ultimately, our work aligns strategy, strengthens culture, builds teams, and improves outcomes. Forbes has repeatedly named CFAR as one of America’s top management consulting firms. We serve clients from our offices in Philadelphia and Boston and through a network of coaches and colleagues from across the US and the world.

Welcome back to CFAR’s Summer Reading Series! This week's recommendation comes from CFAR Manager Cecilia Madden. “I just finished 'The Great Believers' by Rebecca Makkai, which was recommended to me a few years ago by a colleague who was trying to encourage me to read more fiction. It is heartbreaking and revelatory and a true page-turner.”

Tensions in organizational culture can be viewed as a challenge or an opportunity. CFAR's latest edition of Fieldnotes from Culture Lab explores three cultural tensions we see in our work: 1. Continuity and change in family businesses 2. The orientation of a healthcare system’s culture towards patients or staff 3. Productivity and pace in the workplace Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ewzcXwFx

Welcome to CFAR’s Summer Reading Series! Our team’s first recommendation comes from CFAR’s Director of Marketing and Growth, Victoria Nessen. “I’m excited to read "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson. Through humor and curiosity, Bill Bryson always has my next question explored. In "A Short History of Nearly Everything" (published in 2003), Bill Bryson explores big concepts with leaders in archaeology, anthropology, and mathematics. I know he will have me laughing out loud and expanding my mind while I bask in sunshine along various shorelines on the East Coast.”

What if instead of asking, “How can we attract more workers to the healthcare field?” health system leadership asked, “What changes can we make to our work environment to make the healthcare field more attractive to workers?” In a blog published by the American College of Healthcare Executives, CFAR Manager Jason Pradarelli, MD, MS explores areas for systemic and cultural improvements to invest in an environment where workers can thrive. We are proud to announce that CFAR Principal and Founder Nancy Drozdow has been named a 2024 Philadelphia TITAN 100. The Titan 100 program recognizes the top 100 CEOs & C-level executives in Philadelphia and honors their exceptional leadership, vision, and passion. “I am so grateful to receive the Titan 100 Award — and for a second year!” says Nancy. “This award recognizes two things that are at my core. First, the help that CFAR provides to our clients as they make their way through the dilemmas of owning and running businesses. Second, that the field of family business study and practice — a field which didn’t exist when I began my work — is thriving. This is so far beyond my imagination, and I am constantly amazed. I am proud to have a hand in both my firm’s and the field’s creation and longevity.”
