Happy Cinco de Mayo! I and members of the department spent some time supporting Redmond's Centro Cultural Mexicano annual celebration. Redmond Police, WA and the City of Redmond, WA, have a fantastic collaborative partnership with Executive Director Angie Hinojos. It is always a tremendous event. The rain even let up so we could enjoy the festivities. #Relationalpolicing in action when local business workers, kids, and family actively seek me and my staff out for photo opportunities. Shout out to Public Safety Chair and Councilmember Osman Salahuddin. Thanks for your unwavering support. #Communityengagement #Relationalpolicing #communitypartnerships

Thank you to our King County Prosecutor, Leesa Manion, and her team, for inviting me to be part of the panel at the Wage Theft Summit and to share our communities' experiences in order to combat wage theft and put an end to the practices of those unscrupulous business owners who take advantage of our workers. Thanks also to Special Rep for Western States Regional Council of Carpenters (and Centro Cultural Mexicano board member), Pedro Espinoza, whose advocacy and work has brought attention to this issue.

From the article: “Our community has not bounced back,” says Angie Hinojos, executive director of Centro Cultural Mexicano, which has distributed $29 million in rent assistance in Washington and hasn’t seen need wane. “That is going to affect our earning potential for generations.” Please read this very information article about Long Covid in the Latino community. será traducido al español en enero. https://lnkd.in/gB8Z-fSv
