Honoring the bond between animals, humans and the environment, we're creating a kinder and gentler world for all
About us
We are a Connecticut-based nonprofit organization working to promote compassion and healing through human-animal connection, founded in 2013 to commemorate and honor the life of Catherine Violet Hubbard, a six-year-old victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy. Catherine always said that one day she would care for animals and that nurturing them was her passion. If she were with us today, there is no doubt she would have realized her dream to work with and care for animals. In 2014, the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation was awarded over 34 acres of state farmland by a unanimous vote from the Connecticut State House of Representatives and Senate, which would become home to the Catherine Violet Hubbard Sanctuary. The sanctuary pays tribute to Catherine and her spirit of kindness towards all living things by honoring the bond between humans, animals and the environment.

Meet Christine and her 14-year-old chihuahua mix, Gizzie. 7 years ago, Christine was having a difficult time and struggling with depression. Then, she met and adopted Gizzie and the bond was instantaneous, giving her purpose and much needed companionship. But even with all the love, Christine was worried she wouldn't be able to afford proper veterinary care for her best friend. She took care of the rabies vaccine, but was unable to afford little else, almost losing Gizzie to pneumonia at one point. Now, as a client of our Senior Paw Project, Gizzie is receiving the preventative well care that will add to the length and quality of her life. If that's not worth a tail wag, we don't know what is! When you donate to the Senior Paw Project, sometimes you are helping to feed a pet or provide veterinary support. Other times, you might be helping to save a life (or two). Volunteers needed! Looking to get outdoors AND make a difference? We're searching for a few volunteers to help us tend the sanctuary's native pollinator gardens with weeding, edging and mulching throughout the summer season. We invite families, organizations, boy or girl scout troops, and individuals to 'adopt' one section of the garden for the season through September. If interested, fill out our volunteer form at: https://lnkd.in/eQJX3a56

Yesterday in Newtown, high school seniors completed a rite of passage with their beautiful graduation ceremony. And while Catherine was not among them, we smile and applaud their accomplishments with a very full heart. So many of these students have stepped up in this world in ways adults simply haven't. Whether volunteering, speaking up against injustices, holding fundraisers for causes they love or simply showing kindness in interactions, these young people are wise beyond their years. Congratulations to each and every one! We were also honored to share about the sanctuary with this story by @abcnews and @KyraPhillips. So much love and support - thank you! https://lnkd.in/eaNc2rv9 #sandyhook #newtown #catherineviolethubbard #cvhfoundation #cvhanimalsanctuary
