The other day, we had a client suggest that I share some of the more interesting and successful PR campaigns that we've run or been part of in the past 20+ years. Reflecting on everything Cascade has accomplished over this time is a reminder of the incredible projects we've led and the impact public relations can have on a business. It can be easy to forget. In PR there is a saying, "You're only as good as your last hit." This causes us to fail to stop to celebrate our wins and successes, but continuously chase the next thing. Even as the industry changes and we innovate strategies to meet those changes for improved client results, I am looking back and seeing the opportunities that new media and marketing channels can offer startups to small-medium businesses to accomplish their PR and business objectives from launch to growth, just like big companies. In following weeks, I will be sharing a retrospective look on some of our favorite campaigns and I hope they provide insight to the possibilities available for your business. In this post, timing is important and cultural trends a positive influence, but so is a consumer market clamoring for something different and an industry ready to pivot to meet those demands. Today, we can only imagine the additional impact of social channels on this campaign. I am Jennifer Fortney, Founder & President of Cascade Communications & PR, an acclaimed Integrated Public Relations Agency, and I hope that this weekly series inspires you. We busy business owners often fail to commit to getting out of the office to network and further grow established network relationships. For me, as an extrovert, who sometimes enjoys being an introvert and staying in the office focused, saying “Yes” has become my motto for 2024 and a priority for Cascade Communications & PR. So far, my commitment to networking all over Chicagoland has resulted in more valuable connections, partnerships and referrals that benefit Cascade Communications & PR growth, while making me even more focused on our work, direction, and exciting pivot. Moreover, it gives me a chance to tell the story of Cascade Communications & PR and our unique approach to Integrated PR and Brand Storytelling strategies for startups, small business and small enterprise. #TheExchange2024 is another great event, with great food, that did not disappoint and I am happy I made time to attend. Thanks to @Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce for hosting #TheExchange2024 at Soldier Field - ASM Global yesterday. I was thrilled to see friends and my #GS10KSB network Audria Green Hawkins, Lindsey T. Evans, Sierra Dockery, MBA, Randy Kravitz, Alina Bosak, Perla J. Castro, Teresa Ging and build new connections @PJ Harris, Bob Smith, CIC, CLCS -Insurance Advisor, Shubhra B., Xavier Billingsley PMP, Tracey McGhee and learning about several businesses and services that benefit Cascade Communications, our clients and network.

  • What a thoughtful conversation today with my colleagues in PR and marketing communications - Agency Leaders Chicago. It was a powerhouse group and the synergy in the room was palpable. Thanks to Kimberly Eberl, Cynthia McCafferty and Ron Culp for leading us through one of the more meaningful industry luncheons I've attended.

Only in Chicago--the best PR community in the world: Leaders of independent agencies gather regularly to discuss a wide range of mutual interests. I enjoyed moderating yesterday's discussion that led off with what they wish they had learned in college that would have helped them in their agency careers. Business, finance, accounting led the list, followed by writing, storytelling, social media, design, computer science, interpersonal skills, critical thinking. And one vote for Latin. PR profs, take note! Thanks Kimberly Eberl for inviting me and to Cynthia McCafferty for hosting. #BusinessAcumen
