Our Executive Director, Kendra Jones, completed the 8 month Leadership Eugene Springfield program. Her two goals were developing an understanding of our community and building connections. In her words, "the Leadership Eugene Springfield program offered through the Eugene and Springfield Chambers of Commerce exceeded my expectations. The people I met are friends and partners for life. My understanding of our community gained through this experience will enable me to lead CASA of Lane County in a much more engaged and collaborative way."

Has your boss/spouse/coach/teacher/neighbor/friend ever pushed you over the edge? Well now's your chance to return the favor! Rally your people to nominate who they think is “Fearless enough” to rappel off the Hyatt Place at Oakway Center for the thrill of a lifetime. When you or your group raises at least $750, you can send your (fill in the blank) Over the Edge! But, beware! If they match your groups contributions, they can choose SOMEONE ELSE to go over for them! Companies and organizations that raise over $2,500 are eligible for the benefits of corporate sponsorship. All money raised goes to provide children and youth in foster care with the powerful voice of best interest advocacy! ##ChangeAChildsStory #advocacy #Philanthropy #community #youth

Foster children and youth experience disruption and changes that make it very difficult to focus on their academics. Some children's foster resource parents change multiple times, along with the schools they attend. A report issued by the Oregon Department of Education revealed that foster students have the worst outcomes in our state. CASA of Lane County in partnership with the Eugene 4J School District have partnered to provide academic and social emotional learning support for foster students in the elementary schools. Our intent, as funding allows, is to expand this programming into other schools and districts across Lane County. We were recently featured in KEZI for this work. https://lnkd.in/g_ArN4s9 #ChangeAChildsStory #academicsupport #volunteer #advocacy

This year CASA of Lane County launched an Academic Empowerment Pilot in partnership with the Eugene School District 4J, providing academic and social emotional learning support for foster students in 12 elementary schools. Our plan is to expand programming to other schools and districts, as funding allows. Join us and consider how your business can join efforts with CASA to disrupt the cycles of childhood abuse. #ChangeAChildsStory #Advocate
CASA of Lane County provides upstream prevention and early intervention for the adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). ACEs or trauma can lead to higher rates of homelessness, substance use disorder, mental health challenges, and incarceration. These kids are our future and investing in them now disrupts cycles of abuse and the tough social issues our communities are facing. Ensuring these children are given equitable access to resources and advocacy for their best interests is an essential service these kids need and deserve. If this resonates with you and your business wants to be involved, please consider joining us for one of our upcoming events. #ChangeAChildsStory #BusinessPartnership #childadvocacy

Throughout the month of April, we wear blue every Wednesday in honor of child abuse prevention awareness month. Nearly 1,000 children and youth in Lane County spend time in foster care every year. CASA of Lane County disrupts the cycle of abuse by providing best interest advocacy for children as that navigate the complex system. Featured for today's Wear Blue Wednesday is the CASA board at our monthly meeting. #ChangeAChildsStory ##ChildAbusePreventionMonth
