Huge Sonic release! 🇺🇸 New English model reduces breathiness & artifacts. 🌎 New multilingual model improves pacing, loudness & word error rate by upto 50%. 💨😡😳😁 Voice control API to precisely control speed and emotion. ⏰ Word timestamps on gen audio, use for captioning and interruption handling in voice agents. ♾️ Long generations, no more 500 character limit on the playground and API. 📁 MP3 support for non-streaming generations. 🎆 Playground refresh, check out the video below. In addition, we released our Voice Library expansion and support for continuations last Friday.

We've expanded our voice library to 50+ voices, from fun characters 🧙♂️ for your content, to a great selection spanning 🌎 global languages and regional 🇺🇸 American accents for your voice agents. Available now with Sonic with instant 135ms latency 🔥 https://play.cartesia.ai

We've shipped continuations, our most requested API feature. Sonic can now stream in text (e.g. LLM generations), and generate audio smoothly across chunks using the power of Sonic's state. This unlocks long transcript use cases, and real-time conversational voice agents! Check out our cofounder Arjun Desai using Sonic to narrate his PhD thesis (a tome about MRI scans and AI)! Thanks for having us Aleksa Gordić!
State Space Models are quickly positioning themselves as a new alternative to transformers! I had the authors of the seminal Mamba & S4 papers in my Discord talking about SSMs and their new startup: Cartesia AI. They share a super cool real-time text-to-speech demo & talk about the theory of SSMs, scaling laws, pros & cons against transformers, etc. https://lnkd.in/dfjHX-n9

We just shipped a number of API changes aimed at improving API ergonomics and ensuring the extensibility of the API surface going forward. As part of this, we're deprecating a number of API endpoints that are confusing or noncompliant with standard protocols. Deprecated endpoints will be removed after June 17. We've also removed the "Subject to Change" notice from our API docs and adopted a new versioning scheme designed to ease future transitions. Future breaking changes will come with at least 1 month of deprecation notice. Reach out to us on support [at] cartesia [dot] ai if you need assistance. Find a full list of changes and a migration guide at: https://lnkd.in/gCxjFDst
