Another opportunity, this time to represent ASU Career Services at an Arizona State University Sun Devil Day where students and their families come and learn about everything ASU has to offer. Sure, you get some intriguing questions, but the chance to meet Sun Devils is well worth it... ...And it leads me to wonder what the most important part of my message to these students is. In the end, beyond the glamor of such awesome resources available 24/7 or the magic of a 1:1 appointment with a Career Advisor or even the astounding connections to employers, I find that the most important take away is... ...To start. Far too often we get students who come see us as they start their job search or are seeking their first internship. We are more than willing to help with that, but the fact is that students need to start. Our team is here to support even before day 1 (shoutout to Martine Garcia and Holli Trentowski-King for their incredible work with K12) and even well beyond (and shoutout to Michael Connelly for his efforts with alumni). Today is a Sun Devil Send-Off and I had the privilege of representing ASU Career Services with Tanya Barron and Blake Burford to families and incoming students. It is moments like these that serve to brighten the summer months for me. The opportunity to meet the potential future of so many things and share in their excitement is brilliant and awe-inspiring...I love it!
