We are grateful to report that our Lyon Specialty Care team and residents in Rock Rapids are safe following this weekend's severe weather. The team, which had begun preparations early, sprang into action and safely evacuated the building when ordered by local officials. We are happy to report that all residents and team members have returned safely to the building and will continue to operate as usual to ensure our residents receive quality care and the assistance they and their families need. We are proud of the team for their hard work and dedication to our residents. Everyone remained safe because of their actions and decisions. We also want to acknowledge the teams at Sibley Specialty Care, Cherokee Specialty Care, Correctionville Specialty Care, Westwood Specialty Care and Stratford Specialty Care. These locations are also feeling the impacts of recent flooding and have been working to ensure they are prepared should any action be needed. Thank you to all involved and to those who have offered additional support.

Today, we honor Juneteenth, a pivotal day in American history when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas were informed of their freedom on June 19, 1865—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. At Care Initiatives, our mission is to improve the quality of life for Iowans and their families during life's health transitions through compassionate individualized care. Juneteenth serves as a profound reminder of the resilience and strength of the Black community and reinforces our dedication to providing care that respects and honors every individual's heritage and experiences. As we commemorate this day, we encourage our community to reflect on our collective history, celebrate the contributions of Black Americans, and continue the pursuit of equity and justice for all. Together, we can build a future where freedom and equality are truly for everyone, aligning with our mission of compassionate, individualized care for all. Happy Juneteenth!
