All of DT Raleigh is looking forward to this project delivering and reshaping the iconic skyline. Our client, Capital Square, tasked JDAVIS with creating a compelling design for one of their latest projects, which is set to be delivered in early 2025: details and a link to the case study below. Maeve is located at a critical juncture between several distinct Raleigh neighborhoods. To the east, Downtown Raleigh is defined by taller buildings, as well as civic uses such as the Convention Center and Performing Arts Center. The Warehouse District to the north houses a grittier architectural language, activated with art spaces and creative retail venture. To the west is the leafy and historic residential neighborhood of Boylan Heights. Dix Park lies to the southeast, representing the extension of downtown across Western Boulevard and providing a regionally scaled outdoor public space. Acting as a both a gateway and a bridge,, Maeve will stand as a both an iconic reflection of downtown and marker connecting Dix Park to Raleigh's downtown neighborhoods. Both the building form and facade language of Maeve are derived from its unique contextual relationships. Pushing the building mass to the east creates a dialogue with the taller downtown buildings and allows for a gentle transition into the smaller scale of Boylan Heights. Additionally, this massing configuration optimizes resident views of the Raleigh skyline, Red Hat Amphitheatre, and Dix Park. The staggered panels of the eastern facade is a reflection of the Shimmer Wall, a building-size art installation that covers the western wall of the Convention Center. The simple, vertical patterning of the remaining facades recalls both the industrial influences and creative infill of the Warehouse District.
