Experience model-based work instructions for yourself: Model-based work instructions are digital documents that incorporate 3D models to provide clear, interactive, and detailed guidance for manufacturing tasks. Unlike traditional paper-based instructions, MBWIs offer a visual and interactive approach, leveraging the power of 3D visualization to enhance understanding and execution. This digital-first methodology transitions from static, 2D documents to dynamic, digitally native instructions that can be consumed on PCs, tablets, or other digital devices. Experience Envision from the POV of a frontline worker right here: https://lnkd.in/eWiQsEJQ During the interactive experience, you'll: - Access sample interactive instructional content on the Envision platform - Navigate step-by-step model-based work instructions with embedded interactive 3D models - See how end user behavior is guided by checklists, completion requirements, and feedback submission To request a custom demo of Envision, go to Canvas GFX and click Contact Us. #industry40 #documentation #interactivecontent #plm #mbe #canvas

Processes that support and enhance the role of people and technology are essential to sustainable excellence in manufacturing. Some process principles have been important to the quality discipline for decades, such as standardization, lean, and continuous improvement. However, the implementation of advanced technologies has enabled the emergence of newer process principles that further optimize quality outcomes. 𝐀𝐠𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 Processes must be designed to be agile and flexible to adapt quickly to changes in demand, technology, and market conditions, while maintaining high standards. 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 Collaboration between different departments and functions should be encouraged to address quality issues comprehensively, ensuring that quality is a shared responsibility across the organization. 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 Systems must provide continuous, real-time visibility into manufacturing processes, enabling immediate detection and correction of quality issues to reduce downtime and improve overall product quality. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 Predictive analytics foresee potential quality issues and equipment failures before they occur, allowing for proactive maintenance and process adjustments that prevent defects and ensure consistent quality. Data-driven decision making Decisions are based on comprehensive data analysis and insights rather than intuition, enhancing accuracy and effectiveness in quality management for better outcomes and continuous improvement. Can manufacturing organizations tackle the skills gap by adopting an economic approach that blends adaptive and role-based skills? Manufacturing organizations increasingly say their inability to find enough qualified workers impacts key business decisions, from expanding operations to entering new markets. An estimated 2.1 million manufacturing jobs could go unfilled by 2030 if manufacturers don’t address the skills gap challenging the industry. The Australian Defence Forces (ADF)’s new Digital Engineering Strategy will be modelled on the digital transformation programmes undertaken by the US Department of Defense. The ADF will implement a new Digital Engineering Strategy to help the Commonwealth streamline its acquisition process and address operational gaps. The strategy is modeled after DoDI 5000.97, the Pentagon’s directive that favors detailed digital models to communicate info over traditional documents. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eFxm6ytd Canvas Envision's model-based approach to documentation directly supports the goals as outlined in the strategies. Today, there is a widening gap in the United States between the skills employers are looking for and the skills potential employees have. Most U.S. companies are searching for graduates with the right “employable skills,” not just degrees to grow their businesses. According to a report from JFF (Jobs For The Future), 81% of employers think they should be hiring based on the skills someone has, rather than the degree they were awarded. Between 2020 and 2030, BLS projects that about 60 percent of new jobs in the economy will be in occupations that don’t typically require an associate’s, bachelor’s, or graduate degree. Where do work instructions fit within a model-based enterprise? The model-based enterprise concept (MBE) plays a pivotal role in the effectiveness of model-based work instructions (MBWI). MBE refers to the comprehensive use of digital models throughout the entire lifecycle of a product, from design and manufacturing to quality assurance and maintenance. Integrating MBWIs into an MBE framework offers several additional benefits: - Centralized Source of Truth: In an MBE, the 3D model serves as the single source of truth. This means that all work instructions are based on the most current and accurate data, reducing discrepancies and ensuring that all team members are working from the same information. - Streamlined Processes: With MBE, updates to the 3D model are automatically reflected in the work instructions. This integration minimizes the need for manual updates and reduces the risk of errors, streamlining the entire process from design to execution. - Enhanced Collaboration: An MBE framework facilitates better communication and collaboration among different departments. Engineers, designers, and frontline workers can all access and interact with the same digital models, fostering a more integrated and efficient workflow. - Improved Compliance and Reporting: MBWIs within an MBE provide a clear, auditable trail of all changes and updates. This transparency is crucial for meeting regulatory requirements and improving overall compliance. For a deeper dive into work instructions and MBE, watch our recent webinar, Elevate Quality and Drive Transformation with Model-Based Work Instructions, right here: https://lnkd.in/eq7rCfZB #mbe #mbse #mbd #digitalthread #workinstructions #plm #canvas
