CalWild has protected 13 million acres of California's wild lands—13% of the state—including 2 million acres designated as National Monuments and about one million more protected through planning processes. We've preserved California's majestic landscapes, from Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada to Joshua Tree and the Southern Deserts, from the Central Valley to the Northern Coast Ranges. But many exceptional places still need safeguarding. Help us fight climate change, protect wildlife, and preserve California’s wonders for future generations. Donate today!! www.calwild.org/donate/

Exciting news for Northern California! The Northwest California Integrated Resource Management Plan (NCIP) outlines management strategies for approximately 382,000 acres across Mendocino, Humboldt, Trinity, Siskiyou, Shasta, Butte, and Tehama Counties, shaping the region's future for the next two decades and beyond! “We’re grateful to the BLM for providing the public with such an informative and accessible NCIP process,” said Ryan Henson, Senior Policy Director for CalWild. “From the terrific StoryMap to the high quality public hearings and planning documents, the agency has really given special places and the people who love them a fair hearing and a fantastic, forward-thinking plan.” The BLM invited public feedback during a 90-day comment period on the proposed management plan. Today's release reflects extensive public input gathered during this period, complemented by an informative online StoryMap developed by the agency to illustrate the plan's impacts on the lands and waters of the area. Visit www.calwild.org to learn more about land conservation and management across our beautiful state!

🙌 Thank you to everyone who showed up today in support of the Chuckwalla National Monument! At a community meeting hosted by the Department of the Interior and Bureau of Land Management, attendees advocated to preserve 627,000 acres of our beautiful California desert, home to species like the desert tortoise and bighorn sheep. We urge President Biden and Secretary Deb Haaland to take action now to #ProtectChuckwalla. Let's make this happen! Visit www.calwild.org to find out more!
