Rosemarie Guzman is a Superintendent for California Water Service Company where she is responsible for the main replacement program for the service areas in Stockton, Dixon, and Livermore. In 2023 alone, Rosemarie and her team installed over 30,000 feet of new main in both residential and commercial neighborhoods, which will ensure safe, more reliable service for their customers and community for years to come. Rosemarie loves seeing projects move from start to finish – from planning and design, all the way to watching pipe go into the ground. Rosemarie has a diverse background in engineering, having worked as both an electrical engineer and an operations engineer. In her previous roles, she managed various projects related to pump stations and treatment plants across multiple districts in California. As an operations engineer, she focused on managing Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) and ensuring backup power for critical sites. One unique aspect of her work is that she has visited almost all service districts, experiencing diverse landscapes from the Mojave Desert's Joshua Trees to the ocean views of Palos Verdes Estates. Although she covers less territory in her current role, she has fond memories of her experiences traveling between districts. Rosemarie has been an AWWEE member for a year and a half. In that short time, she has attended 14 events – and you will see her at the EBMUD Wastewater Treatment Plant Tour coming up on June 28th. Rosemarie also attended our recent Earth Day event. Of the event, she said, “The Burke Ranch nature walk was a lot of fun! I brought a colleague with me, and we enjoyed spending our Earth Day morning in the outdoors in such a beautiful area.” Rosemarie says her mother is her greatest inspiration. She cited her fearlessness, bravery, strength, wit, fun-loving nature. She also says she is an exceptional grandmother to her son. We’re thrilled to have Rosemarie as a member of the AWWEE community and excited to welcome her to our Professional Development event planning team! #AWWEE #AWWEECommunity #FeatureFriday #AWWEEMemberSpotlight

A new study by the Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE) shows our #waterconservation efforts and water-efficiency measures have made a big impact: 1. They’ve reduced our customers’ rate increases by as much as 20.5 percent over the last 15 years. 2. They’ve decreased operating costs, which in turn saved customers money. 3. They’ve helped us defer, and potentially avoid, costly investments required to produce additional water supplies. 4. They’ve also helped provide a sustainable water supply. We’re here for our customers 24/7, even on holidays - because emergencies can happen any time. Our teams have been out today responding to emergencies, just like they were on this day in 2022. Our Bakersfield District Superintendent Marty P. took this photo that night under the fireworks as the team worked to repair a service leak, safely and promptly, to restore water for customers.
