About us
Formed in 1897 as a social club for fire chiefs in the state, known at that time as the California Fire Chiefs Club, the California Fire Chiefs Association has grown to become one of the largest and most influential state chiefs' associations in the country. Representing over 650 fire chiefs from nearly 1,000 emergency services agencies, along with 1500 Section members, the Cal Chiefs of today is a professional organization designed to advance the profession and represent the diverse interests of its membership. Eight Sections work tirelessly to provide value in each of their specialty areas: Fire Operations, Fire Prevention, Training, Emergency Management, Administrative Support Services, Communications, Fire Mechanics and Emergency Medical Services. In addition, Cal Chiefs has a Legislative Division, including a large Legislative Taskforce. Progressing forward the California Fire Chiefs Association plans to continue its work locally and nationally on key legislation that impacts the fire service. Additionally, we look to strengthen the relationships and network between chiefs throughout the state to provide support during the challenging economic and social times ahead.

Episode 17: Interview with Matty Fiorenza (Retired) Anaheim Firefighter, about his journey through his Mental Health challenges and bouts with attempted Suicide. On this episode, Past President Ray Gayk interviews Matty Fiorenza (Retired) Firefighter from the Anaheim Fire Department about his journey through his mental health challenges and what lead him to attempted suicide. Matty’s story is raw and comes from a person that dealt with mental health challenges through his career, like many of our firefighters today. His journey gives us critical things to think about as Chiefs and what role we can take in addressing this problem today. What can we do better? Hopefully after you listen to Matty’s story we can all start answering that question. https://lnkd.in/gX5Hnb93
